Soldier's body returns home for burial

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The body of a local soldier killed in a hit and run returns to the gulf coast for burial today.

Army PV2 Bradley Powell, 20, died on Saturday, December 8th at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Powell's body will arrive at Pensacola International Airport at 2:00 p.m., then he will be escorted to Ascension Funeral Group in  Mobile by the Patriot Guard.

The escort from Pensacola International Airport will be on I-10 with the assistance of local law enforcement. Police escorts will be provided by Alabama State Patrol, Escambia County Sheriff's Office, Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, Mobile County Sheriff's Office, and Mobile Police. Heavy delays should be expected on Hillcrest Road between Airport Boulevard and Grelot Road from about 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. while the procession arrives.

The visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Life Church of Mobile at 8701 Zeigler Road. Visitation will also be held on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m with the funeral following.  PV2 Bradley will be buried at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
