MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Sons of St. Patrick started their festivities with Mass at Cathedral Basilica of Immaculate Conception in Mobile.

Mobile’s Archbishop Thomas Rodi was in attendance. He said it’s a time for celebration in the Catholic Church.

“We are still excited about the election of Pope Francis. He just is coming across as a down to earth, wonderful man who will be a great shepherd of Earth of the Church,” Archbishop Rodi said.

After Mass, the Sons of St. Patrick celebrated their 60 th anniversary parade in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

The event featured bands, marchers and floats.
