THEODORE, Ala. ( WALA) - Mobile Police Department said a Hankins Middle School student posted a threat on Facebook, and it wasn't taken lightly

“Anytime we get that kind of info we take it seriously, and that’s what we did,” said Cpl. Chris Levy.

Facebook is the where most students go to catch up with their friends, but authorities said a student used the social networking site to say he was going "shoot up the place."

Hankins Middle School eighth grader Judah Staho heard earlier in the school day what happened. He said word spread around quickly.

“All the guys in eighth grade (heard about the incident). Then when we got out of P.E the girls and everyone else started learning about it," Staho said.

Some parents said they were upset to learn about the incident from FOX10 instead of the school.

"It shouldn't go as far as the police department. The parents should be a monitoring the children and know what they are looking at and what posting on Facebook,” said  Ashley Lassiter.

Parents were grateful the threat didn't turn into a tragedy.  Mobile Police Department said the student who made the threat never made it to school.
