Baker HS holds charity event in honor of Sandy Hook victims

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Baker High School held a Walk-a-thon to benefit the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting on Saturday.

The Jan. 11 event was held from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on the track field. Organizers took donations in honor of the 27 victims of the deadly shooting in Connecticut in December 2012.

More Sandy Hook shooting headlines

Local vendors donated food and raffles were also held during the event.

Officials said each lap participants walked was done so in remembrance of the 20 children and school staff members that were lost during the massacre.
