Suspect arrested at least 28 times

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - An accused home burglar, who's been arrested at least 28 times since the late 80s, was arrested again Friday evening and released less than two hours later.

FOX10 news was there as 47-year-old Ted Snow left Mobile Metro Jail.

He was charged with another count of receiving stolen property from a previous case.

Records show the 47-year-old had just been released from jail on $10,000 bond, Tuesday, March 13. He was arrested last week after police said Snow was caught breaking into a home and stealing jewelry and guns.

“Here we are on the 15th, three days later, and we already have an active warrant for him and have started receiving reports of the same type burglaries as soon as he gets out of jail,” said Cpl Chris Levy with the Mobile Police Department. “He needs to stay in.”

Police and Mobile County Sheriff's Deputies believe Snow is connected to dozens of other home burglaries across the country.

MPD officials said they called and asked the district attorney's office to put a hold on Snow after he re-arrested Friday evening.

It is unclear if there was a miscommunication or if the D.A’s Office denied that request.

Police said they would have liked for Snow to be held until a judge could see him. Officials said they wanted to express their concerns and talk about their investigation to see if a judge would hold the repeat offender longer.

Authorities said Snow had been pawning a lot of the items he stole.

They said they continue to build a case against him.

“He has an extensive pawn record and that's important,” said Levy. “It's a good tool for us to use as police officers investigating these crimes. We have someone like Mr. Snow, and we can see where he's been to a series of pawn shops - and see if the items he's pawned were reported stolen, and if they are then we can sign warrants on them.”
