MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -  Wednesday’s arrest in the deadly shooting of Wendy Fisher is good news for family members, who plan to hold a celebration of life ceremony on Friday.

Carol and Harold Fisher said their daughter was a loving mother of two and a friend to all.

Wednesday police arrested Trayon Washington, 17, and believe he was the gunman in a weekend shooting that ended Wendy Fisher’s life.

Fisher’s parents told FOX10 News they are relieved he is off the street.

“With her service on Friday, it was wonderful to know that they made an arrest before then. It's wonderful so we don't have to be wondering, ‘Is that the guy? Is this the person?” says Carol Fisher.

Harold Fisher said the tragedy has been difficult to deal with. The father had to identify his daughter’s body.

“Going in there and looking at he,r and she looks like the little girl that she once was asleep, and you just can't wake her up,” he said. “I don't wish that on anybody.”

While Washington was arrested and charged, family members said the three other people who were in the vehicle also deserve to be punished.

“When you leave like that, you're as much involved in it too. You know they didn't say, 'Hey. We're going to try and stop you or not drive you away,'” said Mr. Fisher.
