Teen charged in New Years Eve shooting

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile police have made an arrest in connection to the New Years Eve shooting.

Officials say 17-year-old Demarkus Johnson has been identified as the shooter.

RELATED: New Year's celebration turns violent

The investigation began after the 17-year-old victim got into an altercation with Johnson in Bienville Square during the New Years Eve celebration. The victim was shot in his right leg.

Johnson has been arrested and charged with first degree assault.

Detectives will continue the investigation. Anyone with information should call the Mobile Police Department at 251-208-7211.
