Teen curfew still stands during parades

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobile Police are gearing up for another carnival season in the Port City. Barricades are up, assignments have been doled out and a new teen curfew is on the books.

"Our officers made 111 contacts with juveniles in violation of the curfew since it took effect in November," said Mobile Police Chief Micheal T. Williams. "Some teens were given actual citations and some were taken to curfew center."

Police said they will be lenient on parade nights when it comes to getting home by curfew, but NOT on teens who are looking to commit crime.

"We certainly want to make sure those kids 17 years old and younger, who are looking for trouble, we want to make sure we identify them and take them off the streets," said Chief Williams.

Mobile's teen curfew on the weekends is midnight.
