PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - A patrol officer in Prichard said he heard the shots as they were being fired.
Prichard Police Chief Jimmie Gardner said a 15-year-old was standing in front a house with several other people when the suspects opened fire.
Investigators said the incident happened around 1:30 Tuesday morning in the Leeds Avenue area.
According to authorities, the 15-year-old was struck once in the jaw and once in the arm.
Officials said officers chased the vehicle, but said the suspects didn't want to give themselves up.
"The chase led us to Trinity Gardens, the Warsaw area, at which time the individuals bailed from the vehicle. There were three black males and one black female that was in the vehicle," Gardner said.
Police said the woman was taken into custody by police for questioning, but the three other suspects got away on foot.
"We do have street names of "Dre", and "Rell", and one name, Willie Standbury that we're aggressively pursuing," Gardner said.
Police said they believe all the suspects are in their teens or early 20s.
During the pursuit, police said an AK-47 was thrown from the vehicle, and they believe it was the weapon used and now have it as evidence.
Police also said the car in which the suspects were driving was stolen from Mobile.
Investigators said they also found a codeine drink mixture and crack cocaine in the car.
Police haven't disclosed the possible charges in the case.
Gardner said the 15-year-old who was shot is being treated at a local hospital, and is expected to recover.
