Teen witnesses mother gunned down

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The family of a woman gunned down in her west Mobile neighborhood is speaking to FOX10 News.

Police say Wendy Fisher, 40, was shot to death after yelling at a speeding car to slow down on Racine Avenue.

Her teenage daughter, who asked to only be identified as Madelynn, said she witnessed the shooting.

She said her mother yelled at the vehicle after it almost hit the family dog on the street.

“My mom told them that they don't need to be speeding through the driver, you know, the neighborhood,” said Madelynn. “I don't know what they said they were just cussing her out and then my mom said something and then they shot.”

Madelynn told FOX10 a black male with short hair got out of the vehicle and an argument ensued.

The teen said out of nowhere one of the men pulled a gun, fired three shots, and sped off with two to three other men inside the car.

“I looked up to make sure it was an actual gunshot, and (it was) insane; everyone running. And I ducked down under the car,” she said.

Madelynn and her 18-year-old brother also lost their father several years ago.

Relatives are helping them through yet another tragedy.

“To take away a mother of a child who doesn't have any other parents, that was the only parent they had left; and now, she's gone. And that's not fair,” said a relative.

A candlelight vigil for Wendy will be held Tuesday night at 7:30 in Cathedral Square in downtown Mobile.

If you would like to help the family, they have setup a benefit account. You can donate to any regions bank to the “Children of Fisher” account.
