MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Angels came out in Bel Air Mall in Mobile on Saturday.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree was set up on Nov. 17 in the hopes that charitable individuals would grant the holiday wishes of needy children.

If you adopt an angel, you can bring the gift, unwrapped, to the Angel Tree at Bel Air Mall before December 12.

Jill Showers of Mobile picked up two angels. One of her angels asked for a baby doll. Another asked fo electronics.

Showers said she had a desire to help some in need.

“It’s something I feel like we should all do, give back and help out others," Showers said.

The tree works like this: you go to the tree, pick a card and buy a Christmas gift for an angel in need. The names, ages and a gift suggestion for the children is listed.

Beverly Triplett is a volunteer with the Salvation Army, she said those who take part in the Angel Tree are demonstrating what the holiday season is about.

"I talked to a young lady here who came to select an angel, and I was feeding off her energy. She was so positive, and I was telling how we as Americans can help others help themselves. And, this is what it’s all about. Christmas is all about giving."
