Tip leads Bayou la Batre police to meth lab

Bayou La Batre police made a disturbing discovery after an anonymous tip. Police said they found a meth lab, the finished product and four children — all under the same roof.

Police also said one of the suspects is no stranger to the law.

Bayou La Batre Police Captain Darryl Wilson showed photos from a recent meth bust that put two people behind bars. Police said 25-year-old Natasha Lambert and 25-year-old Timothy Carey were using this 2-liter Coke bottle to "shake and bake" meth.

Wilson said an anonymous tip lead investigators down a winding dirt road to the lab.

"We got a call and went and knocked on the door and talked to them. In the process we determined a meth lab was there. Found a meth lab, finished product and lab just finished cooking," Wilson said.

Even more disturbing, police said Lambert's four children, ages two to six were inside the home, along with a lot of cooked meth.

REPEAT OFFENDERS

This isn't Carey's first run in with the cops.  Jail records show he has been arrested more than 20 times since 2004. A majority of the arrest are for drugs.

A search of the Alabama Department of Corrections website showed Carey is on probation and wasn't supposed to be released until October of 2015.

That aggravates Wilson.

"Frustrates us constantly, especially when you have someone out on probation with 16 prior felonies, he should not be out walking around. He should be locked up, period," Wilson said.

HIDING IN PLAIN SIGHT

Neighbors called it unnerving. They said they had no idea a meth lab was so close to their home.

"If I'd known it I would have been worried sick," said Elizabeth Faggard.

Wilson said meth is rampant everywhere and no one area is immune to its ill effect.

Lambert and Carey are both facing a slew of charges including making possessing meth and chemical endangerment of a child. Carey also violated probation.
