MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A ThyssenKrupp Steel worker was in stable condition Tuesday after an accident on Monday. Five others were treated for possible smoke inhalation and have since been released.

This is the third accident at a ThyssenKrupp facility in Calvert in the past eight months.

Tuesday, as you drove into the facilities a sign read zero days without an incident.

A spokesperson for ThyssenKrupp Steel USA said an electrical arc incident sent one worker to the hospital and five others were treated for smoke inhalation. The incident is being investigated by the ThyssenKrupp Steel EHS team.

Michael Wald from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, OSHA, said it’s too early to tell the specifics and who is at fault.

"OSHA started an inspection on that and that inspection is open," said Wald.

This is the third accident at the facilities in Calvert in the past eight months and two of them were fatalities.

"We find actually one injury is too much from OSHA standpoint. Every worker should be able to come home safe every night," said Wald.

The most recent was in March.

An employee died while working at Inoxum, a company owned by ThyssenKrupp. OSHA said the employee was working for a Michigan-based contractor. OSHA is still investigating.

Another one happened in November at ThyssenKrupp Stainless USA.

"The employee was crushed by a roll of steel. OSHA did conduct an inspection at that time and at the end of that inspection found no violations of OSHA standards," said Wald.

OSHA did however issue a Hazard Alert letter recommending more instruction to crane operators.

A spokesperson for ThyssenKrupp Steel declined an interview.

Wald said they have up to six months to finish its investigation.
