MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - When everyone is decked out in their Mardi Gras gear, it's hard to tell who is here from out of town and who is local. FOX10 met people from California, New York and Ohio.

"It's worth it. We traveled 865 miles. It's 29 degrees in Columbus right now, and it feels like 80 something here," said a Mardi Gras visitor from Ohio.

People also visit Mobile on Fat Tuesday as a day trip. Groups are here from Baton Rouge, Gainesville and Jackson, Alabama.

People come for the whole Mardi Gras experience. The food the parades and the music

"I think we put about 400 and something miles to get here, and it's well worth it," said a parade goer from Gainesville, Florida. “For one day, everyone becomes a Mobilian.”
