Train derails near Mobile, no injuries

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - CSX Railroad company said a train derailed approximately four miles north of Mobile.

Carla Groleau, a spokesperson with CSX Corporate offices said the derailment occurred around 1 p.m. Wednesday. According to Groleau, 17 of 100 cars came off the tracks near a siding location.

The train, which was carrying coal, was on its way to Mobile from Bessemer, Ala.

CSX reports that there were no injuries in the derailment. The company is working with local agencies to clear the wreckage.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
