Passengers finally disembark from Triumph

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Passengers finally disembark from the Carnival Cruise Ship Triumph. They've been stranded for five days abroad the disabled ship without power.

The ship was docked by 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

A few dozen relatives on the top floor of the parking deck were waving lights at the ship late Thursday.
    
Carnival says the 3,000 or so passengers have the option of a seven-hour bus ride to the Texas cities of Galveston or Houston or a two-hour trip to New Orleans. Buses are standing by to take them to their next stop.

Officials said hot meals, warm blankets and cell phones are ready for passengers when they land.

It was about 150 miles off Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula when an engine room fire knocked out its primary power source, crippling its water and plumbing systems and leaving it adrift on only backup power.
