Two teens charged in multiple robberies

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Two teens are charged with a spree of robberies in Mobile. Police said the suspect’s car led to their arrest.

Alice Blake said there have been several break-ins in her neighborhood off Pleasant Valley.

"I mean a bunch of like 17 in just a few weeks," she said.

But Blake had not heard about the person who was robbed just walking down the street.

Police arrested 16-year-old Amanda Bailey, and 17year-old Austin Yates Tuesday.  Investigators said the pair started a two week robbery spree on Farnell Lane on October 11.  The victim was robbed on the street around 6 a.m.

According to police the teens found their next target in the business district off Dauphin Street.  It's just a few miles from the first victim.

"Just an hour and a half later in the 3200 block of Midtown Parkway Drive they actually robbed another individual," Police Public Information Officer Ashley Rains said.

This time the victim was walking to the bus stop on the way to school.

Rains said in each incident the suspects would pull up to someone on the street, one would get out with a gun and rob the victim. 

Authorities said robbers struck again on Oct. 18 on Airport near the intersection of Old Government.  Two days later, police said they robbed three guys playing basketball outside a home in the Springhill area. 

"The one constant was that a PT Cruiser was involved in all four of these robberies," Rains said.

An officer working the case spotted the car Tuesday.  Police found evidence in the vehicle linking the suspects to some of robberies.

The car belonged to one of the suspect’s relatives.  Police said the gun was stolen.

Earlier in the week, police arrested three teens in connection with a robbery. 

They said the trio held up a woman on Malcolm Drive as she was getting out of her car. 

The three suspects in that case are Rodrick Jackson, Naiveisha Hawthorne, and Nicholas Lee.  They're each charged with first degree robbery.
