Witness testifies suspect called after alleged murder

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Tuesday, February 5, was day two of the murder trial of a man accused of killing one of his friends in a dorm room on the campus of the University of South Alabama.

Much of Tuesday's testimony was from Keenan Henderson. Prosecutors identify Henderson as a longtime friend of the victim James Franklin Dean. Prosecutors said he was also once a friend of the accused Brandon Ajizadeh.

Prosecutors said Ajizadeh may have been jealous of Henderson and Dean's relationship and that might have been a contributing factor in Dean's death.

"I'm waiting to see what happens through the evidence because I can't comment on what hasn't been presented but I can on what has been presented. And I think it's all suspicious with all these fellows mooching off him," said Defense Attorney Jeff Deen.

Henderson testified Ajizadeh was weird. He said he found pictures of himself on Ajizadeh's cell phone. In fact, just before Dean's murder, Henderson said he and Ajizadeh got into an argument about those pictures. Deen said his client was used for money, cell phones, and his vehicles.

Deen wouldn't comment on how that played a role in the death of the 19-year-old Dean. Dean's body was found with a butcher knife in the back. Authorities said he had been stabbed more than 20 times in Ajizadeh's dorm room.

Prosecutors said they did not want to comment until the trial is complete. Testimony could continue for another day or two.

On Monday, the jury heard about the dorm room where the victim was found stabbed to death.

Ajizadeh and Dean had known each other since high school. Both attended Murphy High School.
