Vandals cause $200K worth of damage on farm

Farmer says 3 tractors were vandalized

GRAND BAY, Ala. (WALA) - A family of farmers in Grand Bay said three of their tractors have been destroyed in three months, a loss of around $200,000.

Neighbors came out to help Jeremy Sessions dig his tractor out of the ground after vandals buried it in the soil.

Sessions said when he found the tractor Wednesday afternoon, it had been destroyed.

“They destroyed probably about an acre of peanuts. They got the other tractor we had sitting up front, busted the windows out of it and stole some of the equipment from it,” said Sessions.

He told FOX10 News the tractor was the replacement for another tractor vandals burned two months ago.

“This is pretty substantial. It's going to take us probably three weeks to get this back going and maybe rent a tractor to do what this one has been doing,” Sessions said.

The Sessions family isn’t the only one being targeted. Neighbors said they have also had problem with vandalism earlier in the year.

“Some of our neighbors are even losing livestock; people are shooting them. It’s a big problem for us, and you can’t recoup these losses,” said Sessions.

The family has been farming the land for 70 years. They said they’ve seen destruction before, but this type of damage is much worse.

“We’ve always had minor issues; someone bust a window or let the water out of some tanks or flatten the tires or something but nothing like this,” Sessions said.

If you have any information, call the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.

The family is offering a cash reward.
