Veterans looking for work get help

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A job fair aiming to hire military veterans in the Mobile area opens Thursday morning. Recruit Military organized the job fair at the Arthur R. Outlaw Convention Center.

About 27 companies looking to hire are expected to be there. They include, but are not limited to, The Home Depot, Merrill Lynch, DeVry University, Thyssenkrupp Steel USA, VT Halter Marine, and the Alabama Army National Guard. Click here for a complete list.

The veteran job fair will last from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Thursday in the East Ballroom of the Convention Center.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics puts the number of unemployed veterans at 12 percent. The national unemployment rate is eight percent.
