BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - Wednesday, with the help of a national organization and more than one 100 volunteers, the search for a missing Tillman's Corner teenager continued.
Brittney Wood , 19, was last seen May 30.
Searchers combed the road and woods near Styx River looking for any sign of the missing teenager.
Meanwhile, back at the command center, her mother holds out hope her daughter is okay.
"We are hoping that we clear the area, the more areas we clear the higher our hope gets. We believe if something is wrong she is going to be here, so if we don't find her here that is great!" said Wood's mother, Chessie Wood.
Volunteers are concentrating on a five mile radius surrounding Styx River because it was the last area a signal registered from Wood's cell phone.
Brad Dennis with KlaasKids a nonprofit group dedicated to finding missing children aids in the search.
Dennis walks Wood's family through what searches are looking for, how they are looking for it and what to expect.
Her family said she was heading to her uncle's home - the same uncle who committed suicide the day she went missing.
Despite the statistics, Dennis said it is important the family remain hopeful.
"We want to remain hopeful. There is nothing that we can see to say there is any foul play involved. Remain hopeful go out there and beat these bushes. And every spot we can say she is not at, that is something for the family," said Brad Dennis.
Last week, the torso of a young woman was found in Mississippi. It turned out to be that of missing New Orleans woman.
Wood said that discovery made her heart stop.
"(My heart) stopped, pure stopped until we got the news that it was not her. And even when we knew it wasn't her, my heart still died because it was somebody's kid," said Wood.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brittney Wood is asked to call the Mobile Police Department.
A command center has been set up at the Rosinton Volunteer Fire Department for volunteers.
Volunteers will meet again Thursday at 9 a.m.
