MOBILE, Ala. - Kind people are lifting the spirits of a family in need. A Bell Fontaine family is piecing their lives back together after losing everything in a house fire.

"It was very devastating. To see all we had worked for and all we had go up in fire like that. I still cry," Felicia Ward said.

Those tears of sorrow have turned into tears of joy for Ward. She and her family lost everything they owned when a fire ripped through their Carley Road Home. The family barely made it out safely, but it was a task trying to get her wheelchair-bound paraplegic son Quintin to safety.

"I was sad. Now I'm overwhelmed, overjoyed. Like God opened doors and windows and pouring blessings and it's coming. There are angels still out there," she said.

Kind people opened their hearts and made donations, beginning with a home Ward's cousin let them stay in.

Before now, the family was staying in hotels and Ward's disabled son had to sleep in the car. Now they have been given beds, furniture and more.

Someone was kind enough to give them a new electric wheelchair, since Quintin's burned with the home.

"I'm thankful they came out and brought it to us and delivered it themselves to make my son happy. It was a struggle trying to pick him up," Terry Ward said.

The Ward family continues to look to their faith for strength, and said their church has been very instrumental in their recovery. The church will hold a benefit Friday in their honor.

"They're going to come. I'm excited about that. The love, that's what it's all about, the love," Ward added.

Gestures Ward said are sent from above. She said the family is starting to get back on its feet because God and his caring angels keep lifting them up.

"I can't say any more than thanks. From the bottom of my heart, thank you," said Ward.

Friday there is a benefit being held in their honor. It's at the Breath of Life Church on Hutson Drive in Mobile. You can also make donations at any Wachovia Bank under the "Ward Family Fund."
