MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Teresa Taylor lost her husband Dale in the CG-6535 helicopter crash in February of this year.

Dale is one of four men who were on the Coast Guard helicopter that crashed in Mobile Bay's shallow waters during a training mission.

A memorial was held in March of this year to honor the men. Now, a permanent memorial is in the works.

The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization, is working with members of the Mobile community to raise funds for a memorial for honoring the crews CG-6535 and CG-1427.

The memorial will honor the crew of the CG-6535, whose members were lost last February and the crew for CG-1427, a Mobile-based unit that perished in a 1981 helicopter crash.

The CG-6535 crew consisted of LCDR Dale Taylor, LTJG Thomas Cameron, ASTC Fernando Jorge and AET3 Andrew Knight.

The CG-1427 crew consisted of LT Raymond T. Brooks, LTJG Robert E. Winter, AD3 Joe A. Hinton and AD3 Mark C. Johnson.

Lt. Junior Grade Knauss, with the U.S. Coast Guard, says the investigation into the CG-6335 crash is ongoing. He says in the past investigations have taken between one to two years. Investigators have to analyze the parts and manufacturing components of the helicopter. He says no further details can be released at this time.

FOX10 News reporter Candace Murphy is checking on the CG-6535 investigation. She is also speaking with Teresa Taylor about the memorial. She will have more on FOX10 News tonight.
