PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - Prichard stadium needs repair work and officials will have to get it ready before Vigor opens its season against Davidson at the end of the month.
"It will be finished by football season. There are no ifs and or buts about it. We will have it ready, up and running," said director of Prichard parks and recreation, Grenetta Ward.
To aide in the process, the city is looking for volunteers to come out and help clean up Prichard Stadium on Saturday. They said members of the community are needed to help paint, bleach and power wash to get the stadium fully ready for football season.
In addition to the stadium’s makeover, the city is also working on repairing the bathrooms and locker rooms after vandals destroyed toilets, doors, water heaters and sinks on both the home and visitor’s sides.
The damaged toilets have been removed but the new ones are not yet in.
"We're in the process of putting the doors up so they can be locked down and hopefully starting with the plumbing by the end of this week,” said Ward.
The “Pick up Prichard: The Stadium” day begins at 7 a.m. Saturday, August 18.
Volunteers need items like gloves, brooms, bleach and paintbrushes to name a few.
