MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - "When the city does not have a skate park, your city becomes a skate park," Gage, a 14-year-old Boy Scout, told the city council on Tuesday.
The Mobile Boy Scout asked the city council to consider building a skate park in the city at their regular meeting.
The teen vowed to help maintain the skate park and said it would allow kids who don't play ball sports a chance to get involved.
A local business owner pledged his support, too. Jewel Cullen, owner of Wooden Heart Skate Shop, said it would boost tourism and give kids who don't play conventional sports a chance to be active.
John Williams said he is behind the project, so did council member William Carroll.
