MOBILE, Ala. -

The Community Foundation of South Alabama will launch a program called Pathways To Prosperity, designed to increase the long-term economic security of low-income families with children by improving early education, promoting family literacy and bolstering financial stability.

The program will be funded by a $398,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek, Michigan.

According to the Foundation, "By improving the education readiness of children transitioning from childcare to elementary school, and by elevating the literacy levels of their parents, the Foundation aims to increase student achievement. The initiative will also encourage young men to make better lifestyle choices that allow a smooth transition to responsible adulthood".
