DESTIN, Fla. (WALA) - A man wanted for sex crimes against a child in Kentucky was tracked down by Okaloosa County Deputies. James Michael Savoie was arrested in Destin on Wednesday.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office reports Savoie moved to the Destin area using the stolen identity of a Tennessee man.
Deputies with the OCSO Investigations section tracked Savoie Wednesday afternoon to the Motel 6 on Harbor Boulevard. Savoie refused to open the door to deputies, so deputies forced their way inside. Deputies say he also refused to get on the ground, so he was forced to the ground and secured in handcuffs.
Savoie faces charges of first degree rape of a child under 12 years old and 1st degree sodomy under 12 years old. He is wanted in Lewis County, Kentucky.
Savoie is currently being held in the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview without bond. He is awaiting extradition back to Kentucky.
