PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - The second annual Tyler Jefferson Memorial 5K is set for 7:30 a.m. Saturday, November 10 at Corry Station in Pensacola.
The run is in honor of Tyler Jefferson, an 18-year-old active duty sailor who was murdered on November 12, 2009. Investigators say the Tyler, Tex. native was shot as she was jogging on 49th Avenue near Beech Street in West Pensacola.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Tyler Jefferson Memorial Reward Fund started to increase awareness and funding. Organizers hope it will lead to a conviction in the yet unsolved murder case.
Registration is available is available online for $25. Walk-in, late and early-bird race day registration will be $30. Long sleeve T-shirts will be provided to registrants while supplies last. All checks should be made out to “Tyler Jefferson Memorial Fund.”
