PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Escambia County Sheriff’s Deputies said they are looking for the identity of a man who robbed one store and attempted to rob another.
“It was pretty brazen. I don’t want to say he’s someone who stands out but someone will recognize this individual,” said Sergeant Mike Ward with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the suspect entered the Shell gas station on Davis Highway on Nov. 17. He approached the clerk, told her that he had a weapon and demanded money.
Investigators said several tense moments passed as she attempted to get the register open.
They said then she got the drawer open, he grabbed what he wanted and calmly walked out of the store. He got into a grey Jeep Cherokee and left the scene.
But authorities said the gas station wasn’t the suspect’s first target.
Earlier that same day, authorities said a suspect matching the man’s description entered the Family Dollar on West Fairfield Drive.
Investigators said the man told the clerk he was armed and demanded money.
When the clerk screamed for her manager, the suspect took off out the front door.
“We do believe he’s probably still in this area and somebody does know who he is. So just please call us so we can get this guy off the streets and behind bars where he belongs,” Ward said.
The suspect is described as a white male, possibly in his late 40s to early 50s with salt and pepper colored hair. He’s between 5’9 and 6’0 tall.
Authorities said the man was wearing a white long sleeved shirt, dark blue shorts and white shoes.
The suspect was caught on camera at the Shell gas station.
