Blue Angels homecoming to wow audience

NAS PENSACOLA (WALA) - The Blue Angels are wrapping up their 2012 season with their biggest and best show yet.

Their homecoming air show kicks off Friday, November 2 aboard NAS Pensacola, and there’s so much to see and do both in the air and on the ground.

Over the weekend, the best actors around will be performing in a theatre in the sky.

Friday and Saturday, the Blue Angels will fly at home. But before, crews turned an airstrip into a fairground.

The gates open on Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m.

"If you plan on coming out at about 2 o'clock just to see the Blue Angels, you’re probably watching from your car," NAS Pensacola spokesman Pat Nichols said.

The base expects nearly 200,000 people. Along with the stars of the show, there’ll be skydivers and amazing stunt pilots.

"There’s not a whole lot of bases that do this, not a whole lot of air shows that have a night show, but we’re one of the few and we have one of the best,” said Nichols. “We’re going to have civilian airplanes, they’ll be all wired up with pyrotechnics, fireworks, it’s really a neat thing to see if you’ve never seen it. And it all culminates at the very end with the wall of fire!”

You’re welcome to bring your own lawn chair, or you can rent a bleacher seat.

After you’re done looking up, look below at some of the vintage aircraft on display.

"Not only do we have acts going on all day, we also have the static displays, so people can come and get close to the airplanes, see where tax dollars are going," said Nichols.

There will also be activities for the kids, a rock climbing wall, and a Saturday concert featuring Big and Rich.

The weekend will have not just one, but lots of shows you won’t want to miss.
