Community rallies to combat poverty and homelessness

Published : Sunday, 05 Feb 2012, 9:00 AM CST

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - To support the Waterfront Rescue Mission’s efforts of serving the poor and homeless in Pensacola, Hillcrest Baptist Church is hosting a collection event each Wednesday in February from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Organizers are accepting donations of food, clothing, baby formula, and diapers, as well as home items such as appliances, furniture, décor, and dishes.

The Waterfront Rescue Mission was created to spread the Good News of Salvation through Christ by serving the needs of the poor, addicted, abused and homeless. Since its founding in 1949, the Rescue Mission has helped those in need improve their quality of life by producing real change through the love of Christ.

The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Pensacola franchise will be on-hand to collect the items and will provide donors with donation slips for tax purposes.

Anyone interested in supporting the drive can visit www.waterfrontmission.org for more information.
