PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Pensacola Police said a man was killed while walking his dog on Creighton Road Friday morning.
Lawrence Gardner, of Pensacola, died at the scene, around 8:30 a.m. on March 22, said Officer Dan Bell. The 67-year-old man was just outside the Summer Lakes subdivision, where he lived, police said.
Bell said Gardner was walking his dog westbound on the shoulder of Creighton Road
when he was struck by a 2012 Nissan Frontier truck driven by Philip Masino, 63, of Navarre.
Masino, who also was westbound on Creighton Road, drove onto the shoulder and struck Gardner.
The dog, which was not hurt, returned home on its own.
Bell said the cause of the incident remains under investigation; no charges have been filed.
Creighton Road between Keating and Hilltop was closed to traffic from approximately 8:30 until 11:30 a.m. while police conducted an investigation on the crash.
Pensacola police said it’s the second traffic fatality this year within city limits.
