PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. - Folks are trying to beat the heat anyway they can, with temperatures soaring near 100-degrees and not a cloud in sight. They head to the beach but lifeguards say on days like this it's more like the Sahara out here.
Pensacola Beach Senior Lifeguard, Council Vaughan said, "Everybody who needs to come to the beach, prepare for a day in the desert, lots of water, lots of snacks."
If you're going in and out of the water, it may not feel as hot but lifeguards says that's when you have to be extra careful.
Vaughan said, "Almost everyday we had some sort of heat related injury, folks come out with an empty stomach, not enough water or they drink alcohol."
They've even had to rush people to the hospital because beach goers often don't realize it until it's too late.
Vaughan said symptoms are, "Feeling lightheaded, dizzy, a lot of people will say I feel I'm about to faint, and then they faint."
So if you're at the beach during these scorching temperatures, remember to eat and drink water.
