PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Deavis Saulsberry, 24, and Roderick T. Foster, 25, are suspects in what Escambia County Deputies say was a marijuana sale that ended with one person shot and police are still looking for them.

Gloria Lewis said she watched her grandson, Saulsberry, grow up, but now she says she’s hoping he’ll turn himself into the authorities.

"I love him, but if his friends are hiding him, they’re not doing him any good. You’re hurting your friends and family,” said Lewis.

Authorities said it began when the victim met Saulsberry and Foster here at the Save-A-Penny store on North W Street to purchase marijuana.

Deputies say that’s when an argument broke out. One of the suspects pulled a gun, demanded money and shot the victim in the stomach.

Authorities say after firing the shots, the suspects immediately took off around the store and ran down Truman Road directly towards the Oakwood Terrace Apartments.

“Although it’s unfortunate someone got shot, it is kind of the occupational hazard. If you’re going to buy drugs or sell them, that kind of thing happens – not to mention prison,” Sergeant Mike Ward with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said.

Lewis says she fears if Saulsberry doesn’t turn himself in, the situation could end up worse.

“When you do things you have to think about the consequences of your actions. He just needs to turn himself in and tell his side of the story,” said Lewis, "When you’re out on the streets it’s either death or jail. He should just go and tell the police what happened. We still love him, we’re going to love him regardless."

Authorities say both Saulsberry and Foster are to be considered armed and dangerous.
