PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - UPDATE Monday, 11/14: The Florida Highway Patrol has identified two men who were killed in a crash on Blue Angel Parkway on Saturday as Modesto Becerril-Lopez, 30, and Juan Vazquez-Moreno, 21.

Officials said Becerril-Lopez was driving the vehicle which witnesses said was involved in a race with Aden Yabut south of the intersection of Cerny Rd. and Blue Angel Pkwy.

Becerril-Lopez lost control of the vehicle going around a curve and exited the roadway before travelling into a ditch, and colliding with a tree in the overturning vehicle. Becerril-Lopez and Vazquez-Moreno died in the accident, they were not wearing seatbelts.

The FHP said a traffic homicide investigation is pending, involving Yabut.

Sunday, 11/13: Two people died in an early morning accident on Saturday, and the Florida Highway Patrol is searching for the driver of the other vehicle, who left the scene.

Authorities said accident followed a race between the two cars on Blue Angel Parkway and occurred just after midnight on January 12.

Police said the victims, who were driving a Volkswagen Passat, were racing another driver in an Acura on Blue Angel Parkway. When the driver of the Passat attempted to pass the other driver, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

The white male driver authorities who said left the scene was in a metallic blue, late-model Acura. The car had after-market rims and exhaust, witnesses told the highway patrol.
