PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - On March 26, Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast’s Good Guides youth mentoring program will hold an “Amazing Race” at various surprise locations across Pensacola.
Organizers said the locations, which are currently being kept secret, will offer tours, hands-on activities, and provide participants with real-life stories about how to achieve careers in certain fields.
The event will include a race modeled after the hit television program and feature mentors and mentees in an afternoon filled with service, learning, and career exposure.
Organizers said Good Guides is a national mentoring program for youth aged 12 to 17 who are at risk for making harmful choices, such as dropping out of school or joining a gang. According to organizers, these youth may also be at risk for delinquency.
The program’s goal is to help youth build career plans and skills, and prepare for school completion, post-secondary training, and productive work.
Goodwill Easter Seals provide services in the Gulf Coast region that encourage, educate and employ individuals with disabilities and others in need. Programs include early care and education for children of all abilities, family support and respite, adult education and GED services, job search assistance for individuals with disabilities and free income tax preparation services for low-income households.
