PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - UPDATE: Monier was sentenced to four consecutive life sentences for the attempted murder convictions and five years each for the lesser charges.
UPDATE: After around four hours of deliberation, the jury found Philip Monier guilty on two counts of aggravated assault while armed, one count of armed kidnapping, and four counts of attempted felony murder. He was also charged with burglary which was later downgraded to trespassing. Officials said he will be sentenced Friday afternoon.
The prosecution and the defense rested their in the trial of Philip Monier in Escambia County, Florida late Friday morning.
The jury is expected to go into deliberation around 12:30 p.m. Friday.
Monier is charged with attempted murder of three deputies. Investigators say Monier shot at the deputies in October of 2010 after deputies responded to a home invasion call.
Monier is also accused of shooting his former girlfriend, Jackie Rosenbloom, during the incident.
Rosenbloom told deputies Monier kicked in the door to the bathroom where she was hiding and used her for a shield once deputies arrived.
Monier says he went to Rosenbloom's home that day to get a ring he had given her. He testified when deputies arrived-
Monier: "Jackie stepped in front of me and said don't do this, don't do this."
Attorney: "Did you have your arm around her?"
Monier: "When she fell back into me. I put my arm around her waist, I did."
Monier's attorneys claim he never intended to kill anyone.
