PENSACOLA, Fla. - Dozens gathered in the streets of Pensacola Thursday night to mourn the loss of a teen who was killed during a police involved accident.

"A 17-year-old boy was killed. So that's obviously a problem," said Protestor, Hillary Turner.

Victor Steen was killed when he turned into an empty parking lot Saturday by a police cruiser.

Pensacola police say the officer who was driving tried to tase Steen before the collision.

"Why is it important? Because somebody died due to recklessness and it's not something this city or any of its citizens should stand for," said Protestor, Jonathan Parish.

The Southern Christian Leadership Conference held a news conference before the rally.

Members are asking police officers to stop using tasers until training and policies are changed.

"People are dying, so, the question becomes, how many more people have to die because of these taser guns when the intent of the officer is not death? You can't call these accidents anymore," said SCLC Attorney, Dexter Wimbish.

But not everyone is calling for change.

Some people are waiting for the results of an internal investigation.

"As far as this young man being ran down purposefully, I don't believe that's what happened, I'm not a witness to that and I don't believe any of the people out here tonight are witnesses," said Police Supporter, Bonnie Fleetwood.

But their message is still very clear.

"To change the way they train police officers. I'm not trying to point fingers. I just don't believe the cop handled this situation correctly," said Parish.

The Pensacola Police Department did not have a comment on the rally or the news conference.

Protestors also rallied outside the city council meeting Thursday.

The officer involved in the incident was placed on administrative leave.
