Pedestrian struck while crossing street

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - The Florida Highway Patrol says one person died while crossing New Warrington Road as a car proceeded through a green light.

Officials said the driver of the 2010 Toyota Prius had a green traffic signal to proceed through the intersection when the victim tried to cross.

They said the pedestrian entered the path of the car and the driver struck them. The victim died on scene, their identity is being withheld pending notification of their next of kin.
