Online report filing now available through Pensacola Police

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - The Pensacola Police Department said citizens now have a new way to communicate complaints with them.

The PPD said on Monday, Dec. 10, that their website will now allow online report filing incidents involving lost property, criminal mischief/vandalism, petit theft and harassing phone calls.

“We are pleased to offer this new service and hope that it will make it easier for the public to file reports,” said Chief Chip W. Simmons, adding that the updated website is also more user-friendly than the previous design.

“Online reports will be investigated in the same manner as those that are reported directly to an officer,” said Capt. Jay Worley, who supervises the Neighborhood Services Division. “We started this program in an effort to provide a more convenient way for people to file police reports.”

This system is designed to allow people to report incidents involving property damage and other minor crimes not involving personal injury.

Of course, victims can still request a police officer to respond to take a report.

“In addition to providing convenience to the public, this system also has the benefit of keeping police officers on patrol during the time it would have taken them to write a report,” Simmons said.

In order to file a report online, people must have a valid email address and the incident
must have occurred within city limits. Incidents that occur outside city limits should be reported
to that respective jurisdiction.

If people do not have a valid email address, they can always contact the department’s Desk Sergeant’s Office at 435 – 1900 and an officer will assist.

Once a report is approved by a supervisor, the report will be available to those who filed online. To find out if a report is ready, please dial 435 – 1915.

For general questions about online reporting or if there is a problem in completing a report, please call 435 – 1918.
