PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - A law enforcement career that spanned 31 years ends Friday, February 1 when an officer retires from the Pensacola Police Department.
Sgt. David Goldsmith, 52, began his career with the department as a cadet on April 27, 1981, was promoted to police officer October 26, 1981, and promoted to sergeant on July 17, 2000. Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, Community Relations, Investigations, and Traffic.
During his career, Sgt. Goldsmith was responsible for working with many people on special events such as parades, festivals and runs throughout city limits. Also he was responsible for coordinating motorcade security for dignitaries such as the President, Vice President and presidential candidates whenever they visited the city.
A reception for Sgt. Goldsmith is planned from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, January 31.
