PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Republican party leaders in Escambia County gathered at Monterrey Mexican Grill in Pensacola to watch President Obama square off with Gov. Mitt Romney in the second presidential debate.

Dozens of local Republicans also attended the viewing party, which kicked off at 8 p.m.

Romney Campaign co-chair for Escambia County Troy Schoonover said the State of Florida is expected to be a major player in the 2012 Presidential Race, in-part because the state is so diverse.

He said the debate primarily focused on the economy; specifically taxes, job growth, and healthcare. Schoonover said he there was a clear divide between Gov. Mitt Romney and President Obama, adding that the country cannot afford 4 more years of the last 4 years.

Tuesday’s town hall-style debate touched on domestic and foreign policy, immigration, and energy.

Republican leaders in Escambia County will hold the final presidential debate at Beef O’Bradys in Pensacola on Monday, October 22.
