PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - The Pensacola Police Department said a Yellow Cab driver was robbed and stabbed around 6 a.m. Thursday by a man he had just picked up.
Authorities said the incident began when the 63-year-old driver picked up the suspect around the 4100 block of Mobile Highway.
Police said when they got to A and Cervantes, the suspect changed his destination to C and Cervantes streets.
Authorities said the suspect once again changed his location, asking to be taken to L and Cervantes streets. Police said the driver was attacked when pulled onto L street.
Police said the suspect, who was sitting in the back, put a knife to the driver’s neck and demanded money. Authorities say the driver struggled with the suspect who ended up stabbing him in the upper right thigh.
Investigators said the suspect stole the driver's cash and fled the cab, running west on Cervantes Street.
Authorities said the suspect is described as a black male in his 30s and about six feet tall.
