PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Pensacola police said they are looking for suspect who led them on a wild ride ending with an officer and two others in the hospital.
Tire tracks and broken glass cover Gloria Kyle’s front yard. She got a front row seat to the chase.
"The more I look, the more I find," said Kyle.
Police said an officer tried to pull over stolen silver Jeep Grand Cherokee on Palafox Street.
The jeep is believed to have been involved in several recent burglaries. While trying to stop the Jeep, officers said they saw the suspects throw something from the car. Police believe the item was from one of the burglaries.
Officers followed the stolen vehicle as the Jeep ran a stop sign at Blount Street and Seventh Avenue and almost collided with a black SUV . Officer Coy McKenna’s cruiser collided with the SUV as he crossed Blount; the cruiser then went through a fence and struck a power box on Kyle’s home.
"It sounded like a big bomb or something. The car alarm went off," said Kyle.
Kyle held off from going outside while she surveyed the situation. She walked out on her front porch to find the cruiser and the SUV in her yard.
"Everything was here; police cars, EMS and fire trucks. I didn't really know what happened," said Kyle.
McKenna and the occupants of the SUV were all taken to the hospital.
Police said the suspects continued on a few blocks down. The car finally stopped when it hit another parked SUV and sent it into a neighbor’s fence.
Police said that’s when the driver and at least one more person from the stolen car took off on foot leaving smashed vehicles, broken glass and a lot of cleaning up to do.
"I didn't want to start the year off this way," said Kyle.
The police department is pursuing leads, and they have not yet named any suspects.
Officials said those taken to the hospital suffered minor injuries. If you have any information please call the Pensacola Police Department.
