PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Some Pensacola Republicans spent Monday night with their eyes glued to the television while President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney squared off in their final debate.

The topic of foreign policy had some republicans clapping, and others like Neil Davis criticizing.

“They (democrats) are putting the word out that Romney is not ready, that he has no foreign affairs experience and that’s so hypocritical. He has like ten times more than what (President) Obama had four years ago,” Davis said.

Some wanted to hear more talk about Libya while others believed that discussion would have been controversial and there were bigger issues at hand.

Cindi Montero said she likes the emphasis Romney put on creating jobs throughout his campaign and hopes as a business man, he can lead the county to a better future nationally and internationally, something she doesn't believe the president has done.

“I don’t agree with his (President Obama’s) decisions about my money and where it should go. I don’t believe he has come up with solutions to the unemployment problem we’re experiencing in this county and I think that with Romney’s experience, he may be able to come up with some better ideas,” said Montero.

She said she wanted to hear more from Governor Romney about helping people and his character. She believes President Obama receives a lot of publicity presenting him as a humanitarian while Governor Romney does just as much, if not more, to help those who are need.

Romney Campaign co-chair for Escambia County Troy Schoonover said one area where Romney succeeded in Monday night’s debate was pin pointing his plans for a peaceful productive future.

“He (Governor Romney) spoke about the strength that America needs, that American leadership keeps the world a more peaceful and safer place. When America is strong, we’re at peace when we’re weak, we have other people around the world who try to take advantage of that,” said Schoonover.

Most Republicans at the debate watching party believe Romney will come out on top.

“I think the momentum is clearly in Romney’s favor.  Tonight showed people and gave them a final reassurance not only can he get our economy turned around but be commander in chief,” said Schoonover.

“Without a doubt I think Romney’s going to come out on top. He is on top right now. He’s up there and Obama is trying to fight uphill,” Davis said.

Some Republicans are optimistic about the upcoming election and made it very clear during the debate they want to vote Obama out of office and to see a new face leading our nation the next four years.
