PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - America laid to rest another of its heroes Wednesday.

Army Staff Sergeant Christopher Brown was killed by an IED while on his fourth tour of duty when Afghanistan.

Brown was buried Wednesday at Barrancas National Cemetery, home to thousands of the nation's finest.

Brown received a hero's welcome, complete with a massive procession of Patriot Guard Riders.

More than 100 Patriot Guard Riders stood silently holding American flags during the memorial service.

The somber ceremony was short.

Brown's military funeral was held in Ohio, where he was raised, but lived in Mobile many years and started a family here. Today's service was more private.

Brown was 26 and, now, his young family has to go on without him.

Brown had already given a great gift — the greatest one can give to their country. He sacrificed his life serving his family, friends and countrymen.

Now he will spend eternity among this legion of heroes, many of whom have done the same.

Staff Sgt. Brown is survived by his two daughters and his wife who is carrying his third child.
