PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Escambia County Deputies are investigating a shooting in Pensacola that left a man injured when bullets flew through his home.

Authorities say the incident happened around 5:40 p. m. a large group of people gathered at the corner of Miller and Baars.

Investigators say that's when someone pulled out a gun and started shooting, hitting a home several times and wounding a man inside.

Leroy Floyd has lived near the intersection for around 30 years.

"When you hear gunshots next to your home, that's enough to scare anyone. You want to know what's going on and what's happening," said Floyd.

Authorities say the shooter fired around five or six shots.

"It's unfortunate because even if you think you're shooting into either an empty home or building, those rounds can penetrate the walls and hurt someone inside. It's a very dangerous situation," said Melissa Rawson with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say the victim was treated at the scene and refused to go to the hospital.
