ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WALA) - Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says Antonio E. Moorer, 27, of Pensacola was arrested Sunday on charges stemming from the shooting of Deputy Ryan Robinson.

Authorities say Deputy Robinson was working with the TAC unit in the apartment complex on July 11, 2012 when he got into a foot chase with a suspect.

Officials say the suspect then shot Deputy Robinson in the stomach area, the bullet was stopped by his bullet proof vest, and Moorer was able to get away from the scene that night.

The sheriff’s office says after the investigation was concluded, a warrant was issued for Moorer last week.

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Matt Baxter says Sunday during a traffic stop at “J” Street and Brainerd Street, Moorer was arrested by Pensacola Police Department.

Moorer is charged with vehicle theft, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, murder first degree premeditated.

Moorer remains in the Escambia County jail with no bond.
