PENSACOLA, Fla (WALA) - Deputies said Kayla Donato, 30, and Jessica Tipton, 25, preyed upon a 91 year old man and stole from him.
Authorities said it began on Belmont Drive at the man’s home when he claims the two suspects approached him and asked him for a ride to a store on Highway 29.
Deputies said the victim claimed that one woman asked to drive so he let her. They said the women drove the victim onto Davis Highway and that's when the man told the women to take him back home.
However, authorities said the women refused and then took $200 from his wallet.
That’s when the women pulled off the road and stopped in a wooded area next to a furniture store.
Authorities said the women turned off the ignition and took his keys before getting out of the car.
The victim then told deputies they ran away from the area on foot.
Authorities said the man ran into a nearby store and called 911. They said a store employee spotted to the two women running down the side of the road.
Deputies later found Donato and Tipton in the Big Lots parking lot and the victim identified them.
Donato and Tipton are facing kidnapping and false imprisonment charges as well as charges for vehicle theft and robbery.
Donato is also facing drug possession charges.
Both are being held in the Escambia County Jail with Tipton under a $15,000 bond and Donato under a $16,000 bond.
