PENSACOLA, Fla. (WALA) - Pensacola police say two Pensacola teenagers were shot over the weekend. One of them is dead and the other is fighting for his life. Police have very little to go on and hope that somebody out there can help bring a killer to justice.

It was 7:15 Saturday evening and two friends, Keondrick Abrams and Tykey Douglas, were walking in the 1200 block of West Moreno Street. Pensacola Police say the two 17-year-olds were shot in the street and left for dead.

“We just know they’re 17-years-old,” said Lt. Doug Baldwin of the Pensacola Police Department. “Obviously, this is a tragic event for the families. We’re still trying to piece this incident together. This investigation is new. It’s fresh.”

Abrams died from his injuries. Douglas was taken across the street to Baptist Hospital, where he is still fighting for his life. Douglas’ father told FOX10 that he was shot in the head. He said he is in a drug-induced coma, in critical condition.

In a press release, police say the one thing they have to go on is a witness account of a white suburban-type vehicle leaving the scene.

Investigators say that at this point, they don’t have any motive for the attack or suspect(s), but are working hard to develop leads.

“We have to be cognitive of the fact that these are human lives that is tragically gone and it’s up to the public and law enforcement to bring some resolve to the families,” Baldwin said.

Douglas’ father said the two boys have been best friends since they were in preschool and it’s a very difficult time for both families.

If you have any information that can help, you’re asked to call the Pensacola Police Department at 850-435-1845 or 850-435-1900.
